Qualifications for Membership
A candidate for membership must be proposed and seconded by members of the Club. His or her full name, address, occupation, age and a statement of their experience in such things as walks or climbs undertaken, particularly those in which they have taken the lead, mountain areas visited and peaks climbed shall be submitted. The Committee has sole power of election and will be guided by the following considerations:
- There is a minimum age of 18 years
- Prospective members are expected to show an active and sustained interest in some, at least, of the Club’s activities. They should have reached a sufficient standard of proficiency as to be able to look after themselves and others.Initiative in mountaineering, such as the leading of climbs, exploration, will be taken into consideration.
- It is expected that prospective members will attend at least three of the Club outdoor meets in the year preceding their application. This is primarily to enable the Club and prospective member to get to know each other.
- Members may be elected at the discretion of the Committee solely on scientific, literary or other special qualifications.
