The Rucksack Club runs a programme of indoor lectures throughout the winter months with invited speakers from the cream of British Mountaineering. These lectures are open to non-members and we welcome new faces.

19/11/2012 Christmas Lecture: Doug Allen - Freeze Frame The Rucksack Club is delighted to announce that our Christmas guest speaker is the world renowned BBC Wildlife film cameraman, Doug Allan. An evening of adventures, encounters and insights from the film cameraman whose TV credits include Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Life, Human Planet, Ocean Giants and Frozen Planet. Doug is an award winning film maker as well as a stills photographer. He takes his audience to the two frozen polar worlds - the Arctic and the Antarctic. Tues 4th December 7:30pm. 26/02/2013 Winter Lecture: Leo Houlding If modern British adventure has a face, it looks a lot like Leo Houlding. Based in the Lake District, UK, at 30 he is one of Britain’s top climbers and among the best in the world. He is a veteran of a score of epic ascents including Everest but specialises in free climbing the most technical peaks and biggest walls in the world. An experienced base jumper he is at the forefront of Para-Alpinism (climbing up then flying down). Leo pushes the limits of exploratory adventure by taking the ultimate in extreme sports to the most extreme environments. Tuesday 26th Feb 7:30pm.
